Combining conventional and innovative construction materials, products and techniques for sustainable and beautiful buildings

Expected Outcome: Project results are expected to contribute to all of the following expected outcomes: More optimised construction or renovation processes and improved building performance thanks to hybrid building solutions combining innovative and conventional construction materials, products or techniques. Increased awareness of the construction ecosystem[1] actors of the positive and negative aspects of hybrid building solutions. Scope: The transition to a more sustainable[1] built environment[1] has led to the development of innovative constructions materials, products and techniques supporting the decarbonisation, climate resilience, circularity[4], durability or adaptability of buildings and the built environment, such as bio-based[1] and circular building materials, 3D-printed building elements or the redevelopment and/or adaptation of vernacular and traditional construction materials, products and techniques. These are often conceived as alternatives to conventional construction materials, products and techniques such as concrete, steel, or on-site construction, and efforts are not always made to combine the two. • Develop at least one replicable and scalable hybrid building solution combining innovative and conventional construction materials, products and/or techniques
• Solution must be applicable to new construction and renovation projects
• Must offer potential to optimise construction or renovation process in terms of time, cost and/or resources used
• Must comply with relevant regulatory requirements such as safety and security, structural and fire safety, and standards
• Must incorporate circularity principles
• Must validate the proposed solution and assess sustainability, performances, durability, resilience and architectural quality
• Must follow participatory and transdisciplinary approach through integration of different actors and disciplines
• Must allocate at least 0.8% of budget for engaging with Horizon Europe-funded 'New European Bauhaus hub for results and impact'
